Day 2 in Geneve, Suisse.
More people from the program came today.
We took a walking tour of Old Geneve, led by Guri, our tour guide.
She was absolutely hilarious, gr8 and not so gr8 one liners (i.e. “Do you hate cats?” “Yes.” “Then you must have been a mouse in a former life!”).
We learned about the founder of the International Red Cross who was actually hated as a failed investment banker in Geneve, John Calvin, who joined the Reformation in Geneve and was run out of the city for involving himself in political issues, and a whole bunch of other people and things important to the city (we supposedly sat on the longest bench in the world, and found out why the French suck).
We also visited and had dinner at the same restaurant that Bill, Hilary, and Chelsea Clinton visited in 1994 when then came to Geneve. Gillian, Lexi, Elana, Nisha, Marc, Alex, and I clearly made that party. The vines rouges e blancs was flowing, so much so that some members of our table were dubbed George Bush, Dick Chaney, and Monica Lewinsky…absolutely hilarious! Trying to speak French while cooking raw beouf in a fondue pot and taking shots of peach schnapps and gelato is hard work, trust me!
After that we went to Geneve’s Chamber Choir’s concert, and I probably shouldn’t have drank as much wine as I did, cause I was starting to doze off.
Walking home in the pouring rain is a lot more romantic in this city.
Now back to eating white chocolate toblerone while avoiding my reading. We have an early morning tomorrow: 9am class…
