"Sister, I gave up on that a long time ago!"--Marc Arena

Hello All!

So it's Friday, July 13...and the program has ended. Lexi has left, and my room's real empty. Some have go to Turin, Italia, others to Greece, Espana, and even back to the States. I can't believe that 4 weeks have come and gone...I still feel like the frightened girl with lost luggage wandering the streets of Geneve for a glass of water. Now I leave way more comfortable with myself and my ability to fit in with a group of people that I've never met before...hell, I can even travel and navigate metro systems of Europe's world cities (lol!). Even more so, I leave here with a group of DC homies...and we've got all of August to make life happen! Even though I can't transfer to Georgetown, we'll make it count!

This last week of classes was interesting to say the least. We had this gr8 speaker from the University of Amsterdam, Marianne Franklin who has contributed a lot to the study of civil society, qualitative methods, and global information economy studies. I will definitely keep in touch with Prof. Franklin. I also made my paper proposal to Prof. Singh. I've decided to look at the impact of state capacity (collecting resources through taxation) on democratic transitions. Exciting, I know!

So, we pretty much went out every night this week.
Monday = The Grand Duke Pub
Tuesday = 16, a swankified wine bar
Wednesday = Heaven
and finally last night Le Terrace Bar was open! We started there 4 weeks ago and ended there 4 weeks later...sentimental, I know, haha!

Oh! I'm leaving for Roma, Italia tomorrow afternoon! I'm going until Monday and then back to the States on Tuesday afternoon. Welps, Jill and I are off for some shwarma.

SIDENOTE: How do we miss the hottest parties in Europe. We were in London during the Concert for Diana but couldn't go. We were in Amsterdam for the world's largest White Party but couldn't go...UNFAIR!

I miss Europe already...
