Hello All!
What a weekend! Friday we visited the World Trade Organization and spoke with the Chief Economist Patrick Low…phenomenal! He was really insightful and funny, and I def. want to keep in touch with him in the future. In the afternoon we took a tour of international Geneva with Lawrence, which was really nice. The WTO (again), UN, UNICEF, UNHR, Palais Wilson (home to the League of Nations), and a few more. We also drove past the Russian Mission, and while Lexi pointed out the barbed wire on top of the fences, I noted the man on top of the roof in a speedo watering the plants. Not really sure what that was about, hahha.
Friday night we went to dinner in the Old City. Lexi, Nisha, and I had fondue et vin rose…so tasty! The others went to this other restaurant Soupcon (very chic and expensive), while some of the guys had chicken and beer (Ludacris anyone?!!). And then…we partied! We partied with a percussion band in the streets and we partied in XS, a really hott club in the Old Town. They didn’t open until 1am, but when they did, it was gr8! That DJ was so hott, very, very pleased!
On Saturday afternoon Lexi, Jillian, Alaina, and I took the train to Lausanne for some shopping. I got new sandals, purse, earrings (to replace the ones that I lost the night before…eeek!), and handmade soap! Lausanne is seriously built on several hills and it was quite literally an uphill battle to shop! We also saw Notre Dame in the city which was so beautiful, took some very lovely pictures of Lac Leman (Lake Geneva), and then headed back to Geneve. Sidenote: things were sooooo expensive! I touched a dress that was selling for $3900, ridic! I did manage to peek inside the Hermes store before walking across the street to Louis Vouitton…maybe someday…soon! After returning to Geneve we missed the other peeps and ended up going back to the Old City for a quick drink. Conspiracy theories, pretty diverse music, CRAZY French men who deserve to be arrested…that’s all I have to say about that. Actually, I’m lying, a few more things: some men really suck. And it’s a shame because I have met some really great guys in my lifetime, and the fact that there are men walking this earth that have no respect for women is terrible. Yours is coming to you buddy and it will be swift!
Sunday…wrote a paper for class ALL day.
Well actually I woke up at like 12:30p and worked on the paper until 5:30p so it was more like for 5 hours.
My topic is the politicization of economic integration and the implications for WTO negotiations….sexy, I know, hahha.
We went to dinner at this nice restaurant down the street Café Romand (I think) and I had some more vin rose and tortellini.
Tonight we had gelato, played uno, and watched hip hop music videos on Euro MTV.
I am so, so, so, so happy that I’ve met all these people on this trip.
They are absolutely hilarious, genuinely fun, and so very bright!
Tomorrow = class, I switch to group 2, and after I put the finishing touches on my paper I’m going back to le bar en le lac! Seriously, I don’t think I’m ready for this jelly…
